Book Manufacturers’ Institute Announces 2025 Award Winners and New Board Members
The Book Manufacturers’ Institute (BMI) has announced the latest recipient of the Distinguished Master Bookman Award, the Signature Award, as well as three new members to the Cased-in Club.

The honors, which were presented Monday evening November 3rd at the Awards Banquet at the Fall Annual Conference in St. Augustine, Florida, recognize BMI members who not only contribute to the success of their organization, but also to the continued success of the book manufacturing industry.
Matt Baehr, Executive Director of BMI, said, “This exceptional group of recipients has left an indelible mark on book manufacturing. It is our privilege to celebrate their remarkable achievements and the far-reaching influence they have had throughout the book industry.”
The Distinguished Master Bookman Award is bestowed upon a BMI member who has made an extraordinary contribution to the book manufacturing industry throughout a long career. The honor was given to James (Jim) Wisotzkey of Maple Press. This award has only been given 13 times in the history of the BMI.
The Signature Award, given to a BMI member who has made a valued contribution to the welfare of the industry and/or the Institute through the display of superior leadership qualities on an issue of particular concern to the industry or, for exhibiting such qualities over an extended period, was awarded to Bruce Jacobsen of Bridgeport National Bindery.
Membership in the Cased-in Club is awarded each year to BMI members who have served in the industry for more than 20 years and have worked with the BMI with distinction. The 2025 recipients of this privilege are: Art Crawley of Kolbus; Nick Lewis of Publisher’s Graphics; Brian O’Leary of BISG.
When asked about the awards, Bill Rojack, newly elected President of BMI, said, "There is something special about uniting to celebrate our industry and the timeless printed book. This year's honorees embody unparalleled dedication and passion. Their outstanding contributions enrich not only BMI but the entire book manufacturing community.”
BMI also held its Annual Meeting at the event which ushered in three new BMI Board Members. Steve Merson of Command Web, Patrick Spellman of LBS, and Greg Estep of USGPO joined the BMI Board for three-year terms. Rolling off the Board were Dave McCree of Lakeside Book Company, Joe Upton of Gasch Printing, and Joe Dunham of Ecological Fibers.
